About Surabhi

SURABHI, the multimedia and design project has been initiated by the combined effort of the Kerala State Rural Women's Electronics Industrial Co-operative Federation Ltd (RUTRONIX) and Surabhi Human Resource Development Center `(SHRD). RUTRONIX was established by the Government of Kerala, jointly with the Department of Information Technology (Govt. of India) and the Kerala State Khadi and Village Industries Board.

The SURABHI programme promotes digitized design and multimedia technology, with the resolution of assigning highest priority to utilize the tremendous advantage in improving the skill-sets of trained manpower, so as to improve their earn of increasing employment opportunities and rising pay scales in the visual design industry. Keeping in view the flourishing industry demands, our effort will be directed at reorienting technical education being imparted in the State, with the twin objectives of meeting the requirements of enterprises from local resources and at iming capacity. Entrepreneur Development Programs shall be organized to help youth set up their own ventures. The SURABHI project has been structured to equip students with the aesthetics, knowledge base and managerial skills in mastering the cutting edge technologies of Multimedia, Animation, Web Designing and Fine Arts.

The galaxy of digitized designing technology and special effects industry is predicted to exceed $200 billion every year, indicating a growth rate of over 70%. There are also the industries of video and mobile gaming, television advertising, digital media, science and technology, health care, hospitality and more. NASSCOM predicts that lakhs of digital art enthusiasts are to take advantage of the outsourcing opportunity in India in the coming years. It has also suggested that the animation production industry needs to interact with the training industry to arrive at industry oriented courses which could bridge up the gap of short supply of animators. NASSCOM has indicated about the growing prospects of a potential business domain that is waiting to be explored by the professional multimedia training industry. With the growth in visual media like TV and Films, there has been a multilevel rise in the Indian Advertising industry, which in turn is increasingly adopting animation technology to capture the viewers imagination.

The world view on India as the 'mecca of information technology' has inspired us in our intent at creation and allocation of 'production ready' utility-driven human resource through the RUTRONIX-SURABHI Human Resource Development Programme in Digital Arts.
